sue.tiffany Posted 6 November , 2008 Share Posted 6 November , 2008 This may seem like a silly question but after 60 years of residing in a drawer I have decided to mount my Grandad's WW1 medals in a frame and I wonder if I should clean them first? They have obviously been cleaned in the past but not since my Grandad died in 1946! Would appreciate other opinions. Susan
pwenlock Posted 6 November , 2008 Share Posted 6 November , 2008 You'll probably get a different answer in each reply but I'd leave as they are, they should tone down nicely Regards OY
squirrel Posted 6 November , 2008 Share Posted 6 November , 2008 I agree with Oxford Yeoman. The patina reflects their age. I am sure you will have many different suggestions.

per ardua per mare per terram Posted 7 November , 2008 Share Posted 7 November , 2008 I agree with Oxford Yeoman & Squirrel; not only about the patina but also for me it would be the fact that your Grandad was the last to clean them, so that's another connection to him.
