Remembered Today:

Pendleton area, Salford/Manchester

This post is with regard to a William Knott, who died on Gallipoli while serving with the 6th South Lancashire. His family are desperate to find details of his age and birth date, but it seems his service records have gone and the CWGC record is not revealing. The family have asked me to ask for help from any Salford or Manchester based Pals. William came from Pendleton.

Two things I can think of.

1. Is he listed in the Salford or Manchester volumes of the National Roll of the Great War?

2. Are there any memorials or rolls of honour for the Pendleton area, is he listed and would his listing imply anything about where he lived?

Any answers, and any other ideas, would be great.

Chris

No mention in the Manchester Roll.

Presume you know that SDGW records his residence as Seedley (which is another district of Salford). A quick Google doesnt reveal any mention of Memorials in either district.

Hi Chris,

As and when I get chance I will take a look through my research notes, being a Salford lad I may be able to help out on this one!! Cheers Neil.
