I started taking notice when I found someone I was interested was a POW, he escaped and made it back over no-mans land! I have been hunting my book collection for that one on Red Cross enquires but fear I have hid it away as I was so disappointed in it. truthergw Posted 24 October , 2008 Share Posted 24 October , 2008 Hi Fred. My GF ( 8th BW) was picked up by the Germans at the Hohenzollern, Loos. Taken back to hospital. he died 10 days later. I never really think of him as a POW more died of wounds, but of course, technically he was. I can let you have his number etc. if you are interested. truthergw Posted 24 October , 2008 Share Posted 24 October , 2008 S-3531 Pte John Rodger, age 38, 8th Black Watch. Enlisted August 1914. Died 8th October 1915. His home address was Wilson Street, Lochee. He is buried in Phalempin Communal Cemetery. Phalempin is south of Lille and was a Corps HQ. The CWGC section holds about 50/60 graves, I guess.
