Hi

I'm looking for any information on 1st Battalion The Leicestershire Regiment,

B Company, my grandfather is on the roll of officers ,N.C.O's and men for France 9th September to 22nd November 1914.

He left Southampton on the 8th of September aboard the Breamar Castle and arrived at St. Nazaire on the 10th, i know that the 22nd November was the cut off date for inclusion on the roll,

but what happend to b company after this date, any help would be most welcome.

Hi igorstoner

Have you seen the History of the 1st & 2nd Battalions The Leicestershire Regiment by Col. H. C. Wylly. It makes the odd mention of "B" Company.

By the way the 1st K.S.L.I. (I am reseaching this Battalion) were also on the Breamar Castle with the Leicestershire and they traveled the same path during the early part of the war until the Leicestershire were trans. to 71st Bde. of the same Division.

There was also a good articial about the 1st Leicestershire action near La, Houssoie, Armentieres in the latest issue of Stand To.
