Moriaty Posted 26 February , 2011 Share Posted 26 February , 2011 Does anyone have the battalion diary for the 1st Battalion Scots Guards for December 1914/January 1915? I am interested in a soldier from Freuchie in Fife, Private Peter Dryburgh Inglis, 9316, who was killed/died on 3 January 1915. He is commemorated at La Touret. Doug Lewis Posted 26 February , 2011 Share Posted 26 February , 2011 Moriaty Taken from the history by Ewart and Lowther "On the 1st January, 1915 The 1st Battalion was assembled at Cuinchy Church, south of La Bassee Canal, at 11.30pm for an attack....The objective of the attack was a position into which the enemy had pushed forward on the embankment of the railway immediately south of the canal..." Getting info together on a Charles Gavin, former Liverpool Firefighter died 28/01/1915, for a party of current Ff's visiting garve this July.
