horatio2 Posted 7 October , 2008 Share Posted 7 October , 2008 RNR EAs are Engine Room Artificers in their first term of engagement - not Elec Arts. Their record cards are at Kew in BT 377 (microfiche) - the original cards are the FAAM. Nothing on-line.
sadsac Posted 7 October , 2008 Author Share Posted 7 October , 2008 Hello HORRY, many thanks for quick reply. I know ERA's are ERA's but some still have the `old number' of M1234 ? - and some have the EA1234 - any idea why the difference ?? Sadsac
horatio2 Posted 7 October , 2008 Share Posted 7 October , 2008 'M' numbers are from the 1908 system of official numbers for the Royal Navy and include a large number of 'miscellaneous' trades from ERA to Blacksmith to Butcher. EA, EB and EC numbers are for ERAs of the Royal Naval Reserve.
sadsac Posted 7 October , 2008 Author Share Posted 7 October , 2008 HORRY, thanks for definitive reply - so that settles that. Now I will have to try FAAM I suppose. Sadsac
