Any information regarding my great grandfather would be appreciated.

This is pretty much all I know of him.

War diary movements during his short stint would be interesting.

I understand that you can get a copy of a Guardsman's service record from this address:

The Regimental Archivist,

Coldstream Guards,

Wellington Barracks,

Birdcage Walk,

LONDON SW1E 6HQ

Three Battalions were in France at the start of the War,1st was in 1 Division, and 2nd and 3rd were in 2nd Division, see this from the Long Long Trail at top left of this page:

http://www.1914-1918.net/1div.htm, http://www.1914-1918.net/2div.htm.

Once you get to know which his Battalion was you can see where he was deployed, and then you can get information on a daily basis from a War Diary, which is at Kew,or memebers here might post the bit you want to see. 1st Bn is under WO95/1263,and 2nd and 3rd Bns under WO95/1342.

Hi

I am in the process of writing a book on the Battle of the Aisne 1914. The book tells the story of the battle and will include the photos of many of the soldiers who took part. I have made contact with descendants of those who particpated. Do you have a photo of your great-grandfather to include in the book? If you have a photo and want it to be included in my book as a tribute to him please contact me at paul.kendall193@btinternet.com

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards

Paul Kendall
