Hi Pal's

Is there anyway I can find out where this chap came from? he survived the war.

The Neary I'm looking for came from Dublin, he was a blacksmith by trade before the war, so I jumped on this one seeing he is a Shoeing Smith

Medal card of Neary, Martin

Corps: Army Service Corps

Regiment No: R/20935

Rank: Shoeing Smith...

1914-1920WO 372/14

Many thanks in advance

No Martin Neary in Dublin in 1911 - plenty of other Neary's - any relatives names?

1901 British census has a couple of hits but no blacksmiths only 'Brickies'- with any luck his pension record will pop up when Ancestry get around to it. '

How about posting the photo? (Duh - just noticed above post-sorry).

Regards

David

I know he has a photo in which he is wearing stirrups so I think that this might be indicative of working with horses (photo to follow)

If you scan my thread here:- http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...howtopic=104271 you will see some discussion of smith's badges by Pals, which may be of interest.
