I can't find Pte 12125 Norman Farnhill on ancestry service records. There is a man with same name, but it's not the one i am after.Do you think the fact that one man of that name is there, and not the other, would mean it didn't survive the fire.Could there be another explanation,ie they haven't put it on yet?

Drv Norman Farnhill 26371 RFA is the only one i can find on Ancestry, there are supposedly records from A-H uploaded at the moment with the rest to follow, but that doesn't mean to say your man's records will be amongst them when they are. As you say they may be with the ones that were destroyed.

Thanks Ellie. He was my great uncle, his name is on Thiepval memorial.I have quite a bit of information on him,I didn't know the Frencham/Aldershot/Hythe bit. Thanks for that.I am still searching for a photograph of him, have tried my relations in yorkshire, but no luck yet. That would really be something,to get a photo.
