One I am after more information on is DALRYMPLE, Hew, 2nd Lieutenant, Born: 1885-02-15 at ?, QLD, Australia. Father: David Hay DALRYMPLE, Mother: Euphemia Margaret McLEAN. Cause of Death: ? on July 1, 1916 while serving with 08th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry in France at the age of 31 years. Burial place or Memorial: Thiepval Memorial, France Panel No: Pier & Face 2A, Memorials: Mackay Old Town Hall Honour Board; Pinnacle Playhouse Honour Board; . I am trying to obtain biographical details as well as details of his unit and ideath etc... Obviously all i can obtain is his CWGC records and as he enlisted in the B.E.F. keggy65 Posted 30 August , 2008 Share Posted 30 August , 2008 bushpig You can download copies of the 8th SLI War Diaries from The National Archives. I did so for the 8th SLI man I was looking for. Unfortunately my downloads started at 28th July 1916 otherwise I'd have been happy to have had a look to see if I could help - but they are available and usually name officers.
