Longboat Posted 14 August , 2008 Share Posted 14 August , 2008 I came across this chap on SDGW. Regiment, Corps, etc: Labour Corps Surname: Baker Christian Name: John Born: Cambridge Enlisted: Gravesend Died Date: 29/09/1917 Died How: Died Theatre of War: France & Flanders. Formerly 12142 E. Kent Regt I had no luck with CWGC so I tried all variations on Geoff's Search Engine, but no luck there either. So then I had a go with the National Archives search engine to try and find his medal card but that was another dead end. So I thought I'll try those forum pals who have more knowledge than I on these matters, regards Stuart.

Guest geoff501 Posted 14 August , 2008 Share Posted 14 August , 2008 Could this be him? Possibly same name and same date and Labour Corps. SDGW is not without its errors, although I've not checked back in SDGW to see if there is a Middx entry for this record. Name: BAKER Initials: J Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment/Service: Middlesex Regiment Unit Text: 29th Bn. Secondary Regiment: Labour Corps Secondary Unit Text: transf. to (150825) 389th Home Service Employment Coy Date of Death: 29/09/1917 Service No: G/78845 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: O. 598. Cemetery: SHORNCLIFFE MILITARY CEMETERY

Longboat Posted 14 August , 2008 Author Share Posted 14 August , 2008 Thanks Geoff, Obviously an error on the SDGW. I checked with Middx entry and there was nothing there, regards Stuart.
