Hi to everyone,

i am new to this forum, found it while doing some research on my Greatgrandfather.I had always thought that he had been killed in ww1 as part of the forces.I have only just found out that he was killed in an explosion in 1917 at the white lund factory at Morecambe..His name was Firth Dole, his only daughter Edna was my grandmother.would love to know if any of you guys have some information on him.

I was brought up in Nelson but now live in Perth Australia,so the internet is my only source

This appears to be his death (from the FreeBMD transcription of the GRO indexes)

Dole Firth 32 Lancaster 8e 726

You can use this info to order his death cert from here. (Although I'm sure you know this already  )

There's an article on the explosion here.

Regards,

Jim

EDIT:

He appears to have married in Burnley in 1908 (to either Clara or Margaret):

and this appears to be your Grandmother Edna
