bierast Posted 5 August , 2008 Share Posted 5 August , 2008 Good afternoon - As I mentioned in my last post, my German grandmother and I recently found some more photos and papers relating mainly to her father, plus a card showing my great-great-great-uncle in the Saxon Landsturm. We also found the following picture - and sadly have absolutely no idea who the couple depicted were: The back is no great help - (?) in August 1918 Looks like it could be a Saxon cockade, but which Saxon units wore Brandenburg cuffs? Maybe he's a Bavarian? Unfortunately I doubt we'll ever get to the bottom of this mystery. ARL
apwright Posted 6 August , 2008 Share Posted 6 August , 2008 No idea about the uniform (sorry!), but the first few letters look like "Ffm." for Frankfurt am Main. Adrian

bierast Posted 7 August , 2008 Author Share Posted 7 August , 2008 No idea about the uniform (sorry!), but the first few letters look like "Ffm." for Frankfurt am Main. The mystery deepens - my family has no connections with Frankfurt am Main that I am aware of! I will suggest his to my granny when I see her this weekend and see if she remembers any such connections...
