Hello

I have noticed with great interest this topic ( or something very similar,my apologies for any error) in previous postings and congratulate the hard work and persistence of those who have presented a successful case to the CWGC to get the individual concerned recognition.

I have in my posession the accompanying letter which came with the issue of medals (tear off bottom slip to be returned)from the officer in charge of Infantry records. It states that the medals would have been conferred upon him had he lived...........Letter dated 19th November 1921.

I am unable to find the recipients name in either SDGW or CWGC site.

Does this mean that this individual has been overlooked or not elligible.

I should be grateful for any help or suggestions.

Apologies if this has been dealt with at length before ( which is almost certain) but was unable to locate anything.

Entirely my fault.......

Regards,

Bob Norman

I'm asking a moderator to move the thread to the "possible non-commemorations" section. Hope that's OK.

It is possible that he has been missed. Could you please post his details so that we can check it out. The basic criteria are that he died in service (from whatever cause) or after discharge (from a direct cause of service) and before the cut-off date of 31/8/21. You need to identify date of death from some official source - possible the death certificate.

Here he is Bob

Clickety click

A case of less being more when entering search data - Thorp not Thorpe (but I found him using Geoff's search engine and a search on service number)

John

Hello John

Many thanks for that.I am glad that he is not forgotten.

I feel rather stupid but not for the first time

Bob Norman
