lionboxer Posted 22 February , 2004 Share Posted 22 February , 2004 Hello you nautical types. Can you furnish me with the details of the sinking of the steam drifter Eyrie on 2/9/14 while on mine clearing duties? The first casualty of the Great War from my village was a deckhand and went down with her. Lionboxer

lionboxer Posted 23 February , 2004 Author Share Posted 23 February , 2004 Hello Malcolm, Many thanks indeed. This must have been one of the shortest requisitions ever!! The poor devils never had the chance to gain any experience of mineclearing. Do you happen to know how many of the crew perished or where I might find this info? Malcolm Posted 23 February , 2004 Share Posted 23 February , 2004 Sorry, no other info. There must be files in NA(PRO) on naval losses somewhere. Aye Malcolm
