Does anyone know the whereabouts of 1 Royal Irish Rifles on 4th October 1918 and thereafter? I believe that this was the last date that they were actually in the front line.

Regards

Stewart

Is there any refering to map 28 or 29 in the war diary of october 1918 ?

I'm searching all possible information about the liberation of my village Gulleghem and the surrounding hamlets/towns.

Gulleghem was liberated on the 15th of october by the 36th, 36th,9th and 29th Division.

Best regards,

Bart

Hi

It's possible that someone on the forum will have a map of the operation to capture Gulleghem mentioned in the diary, but your chances are slim. During the final advance most operations maps were 'banda' or 'roneo' copies quickly turned out on foolscap (A4) paper. Just a few were issued and once the next step forward was made they will probably have been discarded by platoon and company commanders as out of date.

Still, I hope your luck's in

Regards

Martin
