No apology needed Debbie; this may be of interest. It is an aerial photo taken by the intrepid Steve Kerr, whose microlight photography and videos are awesome.  If you search for @Steve7's posts you may well find the Mouquet Farm area featuring too.

Pete.

Thanks, I will check his other pics out. I have a better idea now of Charles' final resting place from the photo you posted along with the Serre No. 2 Cemetery map on their website.

At the time this topic was about over, I was completing a submission to the CWGC on the current day location of the remains of one of the two soldiers buried in the Quarry near Mouquet Farm on 26 Aug 1916.  Here two of the aerial photographs I had found on the IWM with both the farm and quarry.

Better late than never!!!

Here's a German photo showing some Mouquet Farm buildings pre-obliteration:

Here is a modern 3D image with a 1:7 vertical exaggeration.  Pozieres shed and civilian cemetery visible on SE corner. Diagonal road running towards Thiepval (NW corner, out of frame). Mouquet Farm is in the centre.  To get the full benefit, visit SketchFab where you can tilt, rotate, invert and pan, or create your own version.  If you have VR goggles, you can even experience it in Virtual Reality.
