Ken Lees Posted 2 July , 2008 Share Posted 2 July , 2008 Ninety one years ago today, two men attached to the 255th Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers, were killed and subsequently buried at Brandhoek Military Cemetery - 350047 Pte Alec Jones of the 1/9th King's Liverpool Regt. and 269275 Pte James Laycock of the 1/7th King's Liverpool Regt. Does anyone have access to the 255th Tunnelling Company War Diary for this period which might throw some light on the circumstances of the death of these two soldiers? Thanks in advance, Ken

sotonmate Posted 9 July , 2008 Share Posted 9 July , 2008 Ken No Diary pages but for now you might get to find something in the Library Book "Beneath Flanders Fields" (ISBN 1-86227-237-9) the story of the Tunnelling Companies. I read it sometime last year and have a few notes, which show 255 had "Dug-Out Schemes in the Ypres Salient" but didn't put dates against it !
