Might the men with the numbers 2446 and 2489 have served in the same RAMC unit?

They might but the chances are that they didn't. There are 9 MICs to 2446 (although two could be duplicated - two same surnames but variant initials) and 9 MICs to 2489.

Thanks Jim. I had not appreciated the same number would be used by more than one man in the RAMC.
