Mark Posted 31 January , 2003 Share Posted 31 January , 2003 I know this topic comes up from time to time but is there anyway of identifying approximate date of enlistment for a man in the London Regiment? The man I am after was 202870 and was in 3/1st London's. I believe he may have enlisted in late 1915 or more likely early 1916. His service papers have not survived. Using SDGW I have searched for service papers either side of his number (20 on each side so far) without success. Any help or advice would be greatly welcomed. Tom Tulloch-Marshall Posted 31 January , 2003 Share Posted 31 January , 2003 Mark - an easier way to do this might be to trawl the BW & V rolls for 1st Londons looking for men in the correct number range who also have Silver War Badge discharges - then check out their SWB roll entries, which will give you their enlistment dates.
