michaeldr Posted 25 June , 2008 Share Posted 25 June , 2008 There's a very good chapter on him in Stephen Snelling's book about the Gallipoli VCs His son, A. H. James, later also to be a major and also in the Worcesters, said "He was a dedicated and very efficient soldier, but a shy withdrawn man who found it difficult to get on with other people. He was invalided out of the army (1930) ... due to ill health brought on by a head wound which he got in France." Snelling gives his other awards as Croix de Guerre (1 May 1917), MC (16 Oct 1918), 2 MiDs (20 May & 20 December 1918) and the Panamanian Medal de la Solidaridad (17 Feb 1920)
