bmac Posted 19 June , 2008 Share Posted 19 June , 2008 Wonder if anyone can help with the background to this officer's death and also anything about when he was commissioned and when he joined the RFC. He had previously been 3405 L/Sgt in the London Scottish. He is buried in PREMONT BRITISH CEMETERY grave V. A. 24. Thanks in advance for any help. Dolphin Posted 19 June , 2008 Share Posted 19 June , 2008 Lt J H Young of No 35 Sqn RFC died on 17 January 1918 from wounds received when he was flying with 2Lt Thomas Alexander Urwin in Armstrong Whitworth FK 8 B283 on 12 January. 2Lt Urwin died from his wounds on 15 January. The airmen were on an Artillery Patrol when they were shot down behind the German lines. Ltn Ludwig Hanstein of Jasta 35 was credited with a victory south of Nauroy; it was the of 15th of his eventual 16 victories before he was killed in action on 21 March. I hope that this is useful.
