Jim Mitchell Posted 13 June , 2008 Posted 13 June , 2008 Good afternoon all. Does anyone have anything on 16773 Pte Walter Higgins of the East York`s regarding Batt etc. Regards
ralphjd Posted 13 June , 2008 Posted 13 June , 2008 Hi, He has an MIC on Ancestry with a further entry below the East Lancs of the R E numbers 247267 and 25399. PM your email address if you want it. Regards Ralph.
Jim Mitchell Posted 13 June , 2008 Author Posted 13 June , 2008 Thanks Ralph I already have that info. It was the East York`s Batt I was mainly after. Thanks again though.
joseph Posted 13 June , 2008 Posted 13 June , 2008 Hi, I can only, at the moment, narrow it down to 1st or 2nd Battalions. Pure speculation I think he joined as a group of older men with previous experience as his number suggests attesting in Jan 1915 and he went to France 19/03/1915 I do suspect 2nd as there are many dead and wounded in his number group with them. If I find anything else I will let you know. Regards Charles
Jim Mitchell Posted 13 June , 2008 Author Posted 13 June , 2008 Thakyou Charles, I guessed it might be 2nd Batt. My grandfather was with the 2nd in India. Walter Higgins medals are on "E" bay at the moment so i may have a go. Regards. jim
joseph Posted 13 June , 2008 Posted 13 June , 2008 Hi, Previous experience, possibly 14th mounted infantry. Good group, I shall see how you do. Regards Charles
