Guest Paul-r Posted 28 May , 2005 Share Posted 28 May , 2005 Hello I have tried to blow up a very small photo I have so apologies for the quality. I wondered if it was at all possible to tell from the Badge on the Hat which regiment this chap was in...I am hoping it is my Grandfather and it would be the East Kent Regiment (The Buffs) if it is him. My Grandmother was married twice you see her first husband was killed in action in the Great War and she subsequently married my Grandfather in 1923. Would appreciate any opinions if it is possible to tell Many thanks PS The picture was in a locket with some very small writing on it saying something like "Front Get Back" or words to that affect. It also had a bird with outstretched wings design it. Paul

Pte1643 Posted 29 May , 2005 Share Posted 29 May , 2005 The Royal Scots Grays prehaps?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can see where PFF's coming from, but for me the badge looks a little too tall to be the 2nd Dragoons. It looks a little like a bird on top of a shield. For the record though, I would say it's unlikely to be the Buffs". Mark.
PFF Posted 30 May , 2005 Share Posted 30 May , 2005 Check CWGC website for what unit Grandmother's first husband belonged to. In regard to second husband medal/unit check UK website "Documents on line" for search medals (World War I) -note search online catalogue is free but to download MIC Card is charge of either 3.50 or 3.75 (English money) check website for detalis
