Left again for firing line. Rode up to Brielen in motor Buses. Took over E22 (Skipton Lane) from K.R.R’s. Trenches here are fairly free of water and in pretty good repair. No dug-outs to speak of; during the four days we were here we were unable to lie down.

Adam,

Can you provide a few biographical details of Arthur?

Marina

Arthur Munt - my grandfather was born in Wormley, near Hoddesden in Herts. 31/12/1885. His father was a railwayman.

He enlisted 31st August 1914 and served in the 7th Battalion Rifle Brigade until 3/1/1917 when he was discharged on medical grounds. His service number was B302Y

He married Agnes (in "service" as lady in waiting to a wealthy household in SW London) just prior to leaving for France/Belgium.

He had one son, Donald, born in 1920 who worked for Shell, like his father between the wars. My father joined the navy and served in the Navy during WW2 on Flower Class Corvettes.

Grandfather was a very keen gardener (many of his family worked in Covent Garden) and sung for the local choral society including concerts at Crystal Palace. He lived in Annerley, South London and died in his eighties.

I've found some old pictures etc...which I'll post onto the website when my new computer arrives in the next few days!

Thanks, Adam! Nice to have a bit of background. Look forward to the photos as well -nearly as much as you're looking forward to the new computer!
