Des,

The only "real" whiskey is Scottish in origin anyway so you're not missing anything being Bushmills free.

Take that as a blessing ;)

Not wanting to sound picky, but that's not technically correct. You don't get any "whiskey" at all from Scotland!

("Whisky" in Scotland, and "whiskey" elsewhere)

Maybe his descendants? I think Cheevers is a 'southern' name orginally.

is it normal to have a man commerated on a memorial as well as buried?

Mark

It's not uncommon. Quite a lot of graves in India, Pakistan, etc are no longer maintained by CWGC and the guys are commemorated on a memorial.

One of the guys I've researched has a commemoration on Kirkee Memorial, which is in Kirkee Cemetery... which is where he's buried.

Dave,

I typed in "whiskey" so that everyone south of God's country could understand what I was on about.

Of course, up here, it is very much WHISKY.

John,

Just as a matter of interest - is there a reason why the CWGC has given up on the graves?

I was under the impression that it was in their charter to maintain graves in perpituity?
