Terry Carter Posted 26 May , 2005 Share Posted 26 May , 2005 Hi folks I have done a MIC check for a mate at work concerning his wife's grandfather. He was Driver Herbert Roland Ricketts 230082. There is not much info on the card. Just his entitlement to the Victory and War medal. The only other notes written down are RFA/304 page 40854. Is it possible to say what unit he was in by his service number? Thanks Terry
olosangus Posted 26 May , 2005 Share Posted 26 May , 2005 You probably know that RFA is the Royal Field Artillery, however, the number does not mean anything in terms of the battery or brigade he was attahced to. You could try searching for his Service Papers at the PRO as these would give more information but there is only about a 30 or 40 % chance of them having survived.
