Gus1914 Posted 30 June , 2022 Share Posted 30 June , 2022 How would I go about finding out the units that would have been involved in the air war over Flanders in 1917 please. I'm hoping to download some of the documents available at TNA but I wouldn't know where to start identifying the units that would be involved over Flanders. aconnolly Posted 2 July , 2022 Share Posted 2 July , 2022 I have no knowledge of the accuracy but courtesy of Wikipedia. Under each squadron is a list of "battle honours" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Royal_Flying_Corps_squadrons Andrew

Hi The volumes of the Official History 'War in the Air' are probably still available as free downloads on-line so the relevant volumes and their appendices may be useful and a good start to any research. The book 'Air War Flanders-1918' by Robert Jackson, may be useful as Chapter One is 'Flanders, 1917: a fall of aces' it depends what aspects of the air war you are interested in. Getting access to 'The Belgian Air Service in the First World War' by Walter Pieters may also be of use depending where your interest lies. Only two squadrons mentioned are 8 and 11.
