Trying to ID a regiment

I will ask family members if any of this rings any bells as previous discoveries of information has prompted memories from the past.

I am grateful that your detective skills are better honed than mine.

Researching military personnel is a new one for us as it has been mostly civvy street up to now.

Did individual regiments keep independent records or were all service records centralised in London and lost in the fire?

Apart from the Guards, everything was centralised, I believe, and most (not all) destroyed in the Blitz. There might be exceptions, though - I suspect someone with more knowledge will be along to confirm one way or another.

It would pay you to take a look at the record of 177515 Edward Allsopp.

Thanks Chris, what am I looking for in particular?

I have checked the MIC and found a basic medal list but nothing else.

I cannot find the individual on Ancestry and find the National Archive website very difficult to navigate. It is probably me who is unfamiliar with it but after the index page gets me to WW1 easily, it isn't obvious where you enter the individual's details to carry out a search.
