Guest private, 2nd worch. btn. Posted 3 October , 2004 Share Posted 3 October , 2004 hello all, I have a tunic which I can't identify. Some basic info: it has 6 buttonholes (no buttons, or titles), so that excludes an 02 sd tunic. It has bellow pockets below (as you can see) and a falling collar with 2 hook and eye closures. Inside a sort of white lining, but no tag inside with info on year or manufacturer On the back there is a sort of battle insignia: a upside-down black triangle, in the middle under the collar. I'm on a dead end on this one, so if someone could give me some info I'd be gratefull thanks in advance ramses
pgardiner1418 Posted 4 October , 2004 Share Posted 4 October , 2004 Dear Ramses The black upside triangle is a battalion badge for the 1/5th South Lancs, 166th Brigade, 55th West Lancs Div, at least it was during the war. All the best, Paul
pgardiner1418 Posted 4 October , 2004 Share Posted 4 October , 2004 Re above I forgot to say the order directing the wearing of the distinguishing patches dates from 30th March 1916, I dont know if that will help any. All the best Paul.
Grovetown Posted 6 October , 2004 Share Posted 6 October , 2004 Two possibilities strike me: 1. It could be an officer's wind up tunic - ie one designed/ tailored to resemble an ORs - but with officery touches (bellows pockets); or 2. A peculiar VTC tunic, ie a cross between an 02 and the sort of 'Norfolk jacket' which they often wore. Rgds, Grovetown.
