tiswot Posted 5 August , 2010 Share Posted 5 August , 2010 Hi Folks This chap, John Tizzard, no. L/4147, his medal card is on Ancestry and his date of death is 18th September 1918. He got the British, Victory and 15 Star on his medal card, and apparently served in India (I also have a thread running on the 'unit and formations' forum). But he's buried at Rawalpindi Cemetary with a date of death of 18th September 1919. Which Is likely to be right? Liz
headgardener Posted 5 August , 2010 Share Posted 5 August , 2010 I noticed that you've posted about this man on another thread. The fact that there doesn't appear to be an entry for him in SDGW means that CWGC almost certainly have the correct year. There are lots of mistakes of this kind on MIC. There are also plenty on SDGW and CWGC, but MIC's are very unreliable in this regard. There are several ways that you could check it, but I'd put my money on 1919. apwright Posted 5 August , 2010 Share Posted 5 August , 2010 His service record (among the "Pension" papers on Ancestry) shows that he died of malaria at Rawalpindi on 18 September 1919 (image #84 & esp. image #88). Adrian

Adrian Thanks Adrian. This clears things up nicely. Thanks for the link to the Pension papers, I'll see if I can download them. Liz
