redorchestra Posted 20 May , 2008 Share Posted 20 May , 2008 I wonder if he has any living relatives..wouldn't surprise me. I used to work for an insurance company with access to a database of millions of names and addresses. Searching for pretty much every obscene variant of name would normally bring up at least one person. I was pleased to see that there is both a Hitler still living in the UK and a Joseph Stalin.. They are evidently a place too. Someone sent me the attached pic a few years ago. I don't know whether the woman in the pic is a Twatt or not ... NigelS Posted 20 May , 2008 Share Posted 20 May , 2008 This thread reminded me of this dedication on a memorial seat in a churchyard which I came across a while back; when I first saw it I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't misread it. Amazing it's not been graffitied, but this churchyard is rural and a bit off the beaten track. I can't help but thinking that he must have received a lot of ribbing in his early days in the Navy. A general search on "Sex" in Ancestry (don't under any circumstances try it on Google !) returns a good number of records (as well as a number of alternative spellings such as Secks); one on the NA for MICs reveals just five, with the good news being that all "Sex", despite the stories of Bromide in tea, seems to have survived WW1 as no casualties of that name show up on the CWGC or SDGW ! "Sex", at least as a surname, appears now to have died out as there are no examples in my local phone book. I wonder why? NigelS
