Remembered Today:

Budapest

It looks like I might be spending a weekend in Budapest next month. I was wondering if any pals had been there and could recommend any monuments or museums that are WWI related and worth visiting. I realize its a little off the beaten path, but I'd hate to come back and learn there was a great site that I just missed.

Thanks, Andy

Definitively you have to do the war museum and archive in the castle district in Buda. Great collection, partially on WW I and some interesting material on Szent Istvan etc.

There's also a monitor which can be visited from the pre WW I era which was active in the Donau fleet. Normally it is at the Pest side of the city and quite central. It's name is the Leitja. Restoration should be happening on it for the moment, at least I hope it's finally the case...
