uncle bill Posted 1 September , 2006 Share Posted 1 September , 2006 I thought I'd share this with you. I'm far from an expert on bayonets but this is the first time I have found a dated and marked scabbard (1915 HGR) the bayonet is a Remington and again 1915 as is the frog. A nice sleeper. Devils Own Posted 1 September , 2006 Share Posted 1 September , 2006 I've only got one bayonet but it also has the date on the scabbard. Is this unusual? Steve

Mick I have a matching set of dated bayonet and scabbard. The handle has the soldier's (NZ) number burnt on to it, plus a divisional motif. auchonvillerssomme Posted 1 September , 2006 Share Posted 1 September , 2006 The bayonet is dated 1944 and made by Orange Arsenal, scabbard by Mangrovite dated 1942 and wooden grips marked slazenger 1942. I wonder what the latest date 1907 bayonets were made? Mick
