Guest cheshirepal Posted 3 July , 2006 Share Posted 3 July , 2006 Hey there, just found some information on a relative of mine via the CWGC web page. Me thought maybe somebody one here could help me in this concern of mine. Would also be intriguing to know, if pics of Bertram Parting do exist, or where I could obtain one as I've got none unfortunately, but he got the MM so, there must be some perchance, don't you think? I've already downloaded the medal card, quite a few odd marks and notes on it, hard to decipher! But as I take it, he got the MM during war, and thus he was killed in action, the British War Medal and Victory Medal posthumously. More information or assistance of any sort in this matter would be very much appreciated! Cheers in advance Andre Name: PARTING, BERTRAM Initials: B Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Lance Serjeant Regiment/Service: Lancashire Fusiliers Unit Text: 11th Bn. SteveE Posted 3 July , 2006 Share Posted 3 July , 2006 His MM listing in the London Gazette#30364, dated 2nd November 1917. 37328 Pte. B. Parting, Lan. Fus. (Wodleston). Link to Gazette is Here Given that there was a three/four month delay between the action for the award and it's appearance in the Gazette it would appear that his was earned either at the Battles of Messines or Pilckem although this cannot be guaranteed. A search of the relevant War Diary or local newspapers may be able to tie the action down specifically. Hope this helps. Steve

dycer Posted 3 July , 2006 Share Posted 3 July , 2006 Andre, Some Forum Members have a great interest in the Cheshire Yeomanry(not me I hasten to add despite where I live). If you type in Cheshire Yeomanry in the Search Engine you will find quite a bit of background information on the Unit and the names of a couple of Forum Members whom you may wish to contact.
