It appears the CWGC site is not working and I wonder if any of the Pals can show any details for these men.

Pte Edgar De Lautour ASqn/3 ALHR was Killed at Gallipoli with the AIF but he is shown with two brothers also killed during the war.

One was in the NZEF and the other in the British Army and died in East Africa.

These are the only details I have, can you help?

Thanks

Thats the CA DeLautour looks right as he is stated to have been killed in German East Africa.

The NZEF death is shown as having won the MM.

There were seven brothers of which almost all served with the NZEF but two and of which three were killed.

Thanks for checking, but mine is still not working, must be a southern hemispere thing.

Steve ,

Have sent you an email with all the De Lautours in the NZEF

If the father is Dr H A De Lautour of Kilbirnie, Wellington. then the sons are

definitely

Garsio Armand, William Lionel, Edward Lionel, Bernard Parker, Arthur George, and probably Robert Archibald

Steve,

I have found Probate records for

Edgar Frederick de Lautour, farmer, South Australia

6133 Dunedin Court, filed 24 Jan 1919- will

Harry Archibald De Lautour -surgeon (the father)

Dunedin court 4279,

filed 13 August 1917- will

Arthur George- 1963

Bernard Parker-1961

Garsie Arnand- 1969

obviously these 3 were not killed in the war

A member of the NZSG who is interested in the De Lautour family is

Ms Susan Mary WANN (nee WANN)

PO Box 1370

Subiaco

Western Australia

Australia

email: smwann@hotmail.com

She is possibly a descendent of Edgar!

C A may be Cecil Albert

There is a Cecil Albert de Lautour in NZ but born 1856 died 1931, member of Parliament for Gisborne.

So I don't think its the same one

The one in S. Africa may not be related.

The de lautours in NZ seem to have arrived in the 1870s from India and settled around Pt Chalmers, Christchurch, and Gisborne, then spread around a bit

Thanks Chris,

I can see my mistake now.

Sgt Edgar Frederick De Lautour 82 3rd ALHR

NOK Harry Archibald and Emma De Lautour

Oamaru NZ

Brother shown as EA De Lautour

Springside via Orange NSW

and Sister

Mrs Orbell

Edgar card shows that mentions "one son was killed in German East Africa another while serving in NZEF won the MM".

I think when it said "another" it didn't mean a second one was killed only won the MM.

Must be getting old.
