David Ridgus Posted 30 July , 2014 Share Posted 30 July , 2014 Folks Amongst the plethora of magazines that have come out this year to mark the centenary I would like to draw forum pals' attention to 'The Illustrated First World War'. It is produced by the Illustrated London News whose photographic archive encompasses the so called 'Great Eight' illustrated magazines of the period. It looks at the war thematically with over 300 pictures drawn from the ILN, The Sphere, The Tatler, Bystander et al. It gives a real sense of how the media of the time presented the war. Interestingly it is also a precursor for a website which will make the whole ILN archive available for the first time: and it's free. The website is listed as www.illustratedfirstworldwar.com and if as good as advertised then I think it will be a marvellous resource. Apologies if this has already been brought to the Forum's attention but I couldn't find any reference on a search. David
