Seadog Posted 18 January , 2013 Share Posted 18 January , 2013 My brilliant idea of posting lots of slide shows on one thread appears to have malfunctioned so here is one as a separate thread click on the image for a description. tn.drummond Posted 18 January , 2013 Share Posted 18 January , 2013 Norman I'm really impressed with what you're doing. I especially like the facility to provide background information. I'm at the outset of a medium term project to provide a web site for my 'London Regiment(1908-1920)' photographs with a longer term objective of providing one for WW1 British Regiments in India. I've been phaffing around for years just collecting but decided last year to specialise around my two main areas of interest. it will take me some time as I'm selling off various extraneous elements to fund the plugging of a number of gaps (particularly numbered RF battalions). Anyway...I was wondering if you are using specialist 'hosting' software for displaying your images or if this is something more generally available. Perhaps you could enlighten the darkened ! I suspect Flickr but it's not something I'm au fait with. Oh, and don't worry. I'm not intending to provide a running commentary on all your efforts it's just that you've rather 'rung' my bell. Seadog Posted 18 January , 2013 Author Share Posted 18 January , 2013 Tim all my photos are hosted on Flickr which is in my opinion the best thing to happen to photography since the invention of slide film! Basic membership is free which allows a modest number and size of images but the best option is a "pro" account which has no limits and costs about £14 pa. In my case instead of a pile of images which nobody would ever see by putting them on Flickr I now stand at almost 1.6 million views and many of the images have been used for publication and one has even been produced as a postage stamp. I think that you can tell that I am very enthusiastic about Flickr which does not use any kind of third party advertising just the images which are available 24/7/365 worldwide. Coincidently Flickr celebrates a milestone today. Newspaper article http://www.dailymail...ing-images.html Regards Norman
tn.drummond Posted 18 January , 2013 Share Posted 18 January , 2013 That's of great assistance Norman, and quite some testimonial. May well be just what I'm looking for. Regards Tim
