River97 Posted 25 August , 2012 Share Posted 25 August , 2012 Rest in peace soldier boy's, gone and no longer forgotten. So - the Adelaide ones came from Tony. That's wonderful. I have stood beside Hugh MacMillan's grave.

Andrew P Posted 27 August , 2012 Share Posted 27 August , 2012 Emil Adolf Johansen was one of the soldier's I submitted. He was 16 when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916 and was in the reinforcements to the 48th Battalion. He served at Passchendaele with the 48th Battalion AIF but was then transferred for service to the 3rd AGH for the remainder of the war as they found he was underage. Due to illness while in the service he suffered from a weak heart and this casued his death in 1921 aged 21. He was buried in the Church of England section of Fremantle Cemetery with the other war graves but his plot does not seem to have ever been marked with a headstone so I am hoping OAWG will have a plaque or headstone put on the plot. River97 Posted 1 September , 2012 Share Posted 1 September , 2012 Visited West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide this afternoon. I was there to seek out the headstone and final resting place of Stanley Collis. He can be found in the Road 5 plot, along with a few other fallen from the Great War. There are three other finds of mine very close by. Rest in peace Stan. Cheers Andy.

River97 Posted 20 October , 2012 Share Posted 20 October , 2012 As there was a clear, warm day in Adelaide, I decided to get out. I went for a wander around the plot of Road 5 in West Terrace Cemetery (quite a few WW1 fallen here) and this is what I found. The final resting place of Stanley Collis is now commemorated by a new memorial plaque, having been placed there some time in the last six weeks. Cheers Andy. John_Hartley Posted 20 October , 2012 Share Posted 20 October , 2012 Andy Is that a standard CWGC memorial that they use in your part of the world, rather than the usual headstone John?
River97 Posted 21 October , 2012 Share Posted 21 October , 2012 John, Yes it is. There are many, many service members in this area of the cemetery who have these, along with their family installed headstone. Cheers Andy.
