Remembered Today:

Trench map - Framerville Rosieres March 1918

Hi All,

I would appreciate a copy or information about trenches around the Framerville to Rosieres area as my Great Uncle, Pte Thomas Chalk 7th Durham Light Infantry, was killed there. He was killed during the German Spring Offensive 26th March 1918 and the 7th Battallion war diary states they were machine gunned after repeling the enemy around the Framerville area. Does the 'Long Trench' which they attacked from still exist or is a trench map to show where it was out there.

I am visiting the Somme on 14/09/10 so any info would be appreciated greatly.

Thanks

S R Chalk

I've got plenty of trenchmaps showing the area at various dates in 1916, but I don't suppose these are really relevant. However, i do have one British map from June 1918 showing the area which may be of use?...
