centurion Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 Apologies but in the maelstrom of the forum upgrade I've lost track of the thread this ought to be part of so I'm starting a new one. There have been postings stating that the tank Scotch and Soda was sent to Limerick in 1917. However I have found several references to a tank named Scotch and Soda being sent to Limerick in April 1919 to deal with the Limerick Soviet of April and May 1919. This tank was based at the Sarsfield Bridge along with an armoured car and on 28th of April 1919 stopped some 300 'revolutionaries' from crossing the Shannon. Now whilst it is quite possible that there was more than one tank named Scotch and Soda it seems improbable that both were sent to Limerick (unless someone had ordered a good stiff double!).
