Just to see what people are attracted to.

And I'm putting together my "Dream Cast" for the never-to-be-released blockbuster. My picks so far:

Marie - Audrey Hepburn (Roman Holiday)

The General - Claude Rains (Casablanca)

Marie's father - C. Aubrey Smith or Johns Mills

Only six votes? I know that more than that read this story.

If you are new, you can find the story to date in the John and Marie Blog.

The problem with choosing one is that all the others have to be rejected. :(

I think I will wait for a few more episodes before I finally reject all but one. Hope that's OK....

Have gone back and read the blog, which made it all run smoothly.

Madame Johnson - Katherine Hepburn with a French accent

Kim,

Have you been peeking in my family album? That's scary! This is my grandmother Jeanne Dominique Albertine Verzieux post-8221-1243461982.jpg

Marie's Mother just has to be played by Jenny Agutter......

We tried, but couldn't find her. Must have gone walkabout .... :P

And this could be Marie's father. In actual fact it's Barthelemy Verzieux, Jeanne's father, who served with the Garde Mobile de Rhone in the Franco-Prussian War.

And could this be Jonn? But his ears stick out too much. My Great Uncle Matthew.

I'll take a stab at this (and since just under 50% of Cdn soldiers were born in the UK anyway):

Marie: Clemence Poesy

John: Colin Farrel or Jude Law

John's Captain: Colin Firth or Clive Owen

Marie's father: Phillipe Noiret

Good luck with the movie

Well, I've just read part 18, and it definitely has to be Madame Johnson for me, so I've voted. :)

She certainly is a character.

Now there's an idea. Let's kill off John and Marie, and concentrate of General Matthieu and Dominique, who are rapidly taking over this story. :D

Please dont kill the general off, I'm falling in love with him, can you kill of Dominique though, she's barring my path to true love

On second thoughts maybe he wouldnt be interested in an English girl, so maybe you'd better keep Dominique alive

I cant think who should play him in your non-existent blockbuster, but somebody tall, dark and mysterious ...

Oh yes!

Why didnt I think of Clark Gable, he would be perfect

with just a smidge of David Suchet

PERFECT!

Thanks for the idea Kim ...

I still think of Claude Rains in Casablanca. The General isn't corrupt, but he does have an eye for the women.

David Niven doesn't look French enough.

Bringing this to the top. Any more votes?

And when I think that when I played in the Publishers" Softball League Harlequin couldn't field a strong team.

I'm less sure of who should play the General, as his character has shifted.
