1st AIF Posted 25 March , 2009 Share Posted 25 March , 2009 Hello and asking for help from an Aussie bloke. Lt John Blair (a doctor) was my grandma's fiance. Unfortunately he DOW late in the war and in the end my Scottish grandma met my grandad from the 42nd Bn AIF in Edinburgh. She became a war bride and so here I am. Am a specialist in AIF but asking my UK chums if they have any further knowledge on this mysterious man or his brother - both of him so sadly, so sadly died at the close of the war. Guest ECowan Posted 4 August , 2014 Share Posted 4 August , 2014 Hi I am John and Hector's great great niece, my brother and I have found your message whilst trying to research a little about our families war history. John and Hectors sister Janet was our great grandmother. There is still a niece and nephew of John and Hector alive today.
1st AIF Posted 14 August , 2014 Author Share Posted 14 August , 2014 I think my sister still has a letter from John Blair to my grandmother saying that he was wounded but should be ok . He died shortly after. RIP.
