Stebie9173 Posted 8 March , 2006 Share Posted 8 March , 2006 Just noticed a link for searching Service Records of WAAC and QMAAC on the National Archives Documents Online homepage. I take it this is new? http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...ine/default.asp http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...y=*&queryType=1 Are these what I think they are? Full service records from the Microfilms at Kew...? Steve.

Compo Posted 8 March , 2006 Share Posted 8 March , 2006 No luck with Edith Ellen Eckersley, F Wn, 383 either. In fact no results for any surnames beginning with Eck* at all. 244 hits with the name Edith only, a very popular name at the time but none of them right. I begin to wonder how much of the data base is actually in here. released rather early to meet the womens day deadline? Regds,
Jim Strawbridge Posted 9 March , 2006 Share Posted 9 March , 2006 I begin to wonder how much of the data base is actually in here. released rather early to meet the womens day deadline? Regds, The lead site mentions that there were over 57000 WAACs in WW1. The records were damaged in the blitz with around 7000 records surviving. So expect a hit rate of one in eight. I searched 23 names and got 4 hits.
