Terry_Reeves Posted 8 October , 2006 The artist was James H Dowd, born in Sheffield in1884. He was a draughtsman , painter and etcher. and, according to the 1901 census, a sculpter as well. He was regular contributor to the "Graphic" and Punch magazine started to publish his work from 1906. In 1925, he illustrated a story called "Winnie the Pooh" which appeared in the London Evening News. This later formed the first chapter of the eponymous book by AA Milne, although Dowd did not illustrate these. TR Link to comment
