1 July 1918 Dominion Day Divisional Sports Meet Part 8
100 YEARS AGO TODAY: Dominion Day, Canadian Corps Sports Meet at Tinques, 1st and 2nd July, 1918. The Canadian Corps, including the Corps Commander (Lt-Gen Sir Arthur Currie), save for elements of the 5th Canadian Divisional Artillery, attend in the presence of Field Marshall H.R.H. The Duke of Connaught. The scores were as follows:
1st Division 101 points
2nd Division 58 points
3rd Division 53 points
4th Division 56 points
Corps Troops 58 points
Provisions made by the Staff for the comfort and transport of Troops to and from distinct points were excellent.
The arrangements made by the YMCA were inadequate, being only suitable for some 2000 men, whereas 30,000 must have attended.
Casualties: Nil
Reinforcements: 5th Canadian Infantry Battalion, 10. O.R.
