Mud, Blood and Memoirs. Competition now open for :-

1. Serious title (me being pompous)

2. Forum pi ss take (me pulling legs)

3. Funniest title (to give me a laff like)

Anyway, the author wishes to acknowledge the help and encouragement of all you lovely people out there who have kept me tracing the trail of the McCallion family secret. I reckon I am about 75% of the way there. But that could all change, depending on me mood.

To John Hartley - thanks for being a good sport and there's a gilette blue 2 in the post.

Aside from that I will endeavour to ensure that there is not single redeeming feature in your character.

Anyway, again .... I am further indebted to Prof. Mandy Murf Achoo for her in-depth research of the accounts so far. The Prof. kept track of various personalities who appeared and disappeared up to now. And I hope she's still taking notes.

Thanks to her Ypressness, I can now unveil the cast of characters so far.

This post will be updated as I indulge myself in all manner or murder, mayhem and malpractice.

Wha'??

I was singing in an estiawhatyamacallit?? blink.gif Did I get appearence money, or at the very least free beer?? I have been known to sing a song or two and know the words of lots of them, but even I know I can't sing for ***t.

And I joined the Connaught Rangers! Nothing wrong with that, mind. biggrin.gif

The problem is I can't find any mention of meself in this otherwise masterly piece...sob sad.gif

Cracking story, Des!

Liam.

Have to edit you in Liam - you were 'originally' sean Donnelly ... but I reckoned Liam Curran had a good ww1 feel to it. Now sorted.

Hi Des,

Thanks for that, but where's me free beer?? Surely It's a long way to Tipperary sung by a man living only a stones throw from Tipperary is worth a few pints biggrin.gif

Regards,

Liam.

It's been a pleasure to be the foil for your talent. And, of course, for capturing the True Essence of Hartley (it really should be bottled in time for Chistmas).

Thanks also for the occasional opportunity to contribute a bit of prose (which you have tended to leave more or less untouched).

I woke at 2.36am today (Tuesday) .. I was due to leave for Portadown at 5.45am ... did I get back to sleep.

No.

Why?

That bleedin' man Hartley ... bear (or bare!!) with me ... I shall not be defeated, 'Ateful 'Artley is going DOWN.

I just have to work out how .. and then twist it. Which ain't easy.

I now have a diagram with felt tip pen lines all over it. And you think CID work hard?

'Ateful 'Artley is going DOWN.

Please don't forget my namesake ends up after the war having a nice rest in the hospital. Straight-jacket is bit of a b**ger though.
