1st Battery 23 March 1918
Susan Drain's blog today reveals the 1st Battery, 1st Brigade is now in close proximity to the 61st Battery, 14th Brigade.
Following the war, my grandfather had written to one of his pals about this day.
Gunner Richard (Dick) Walshe went to greet the men of the 1st Battery, and when they learned he was the brother of their Sergeant Francis (Frank) Walshe (wounded just before Courcelette and now recovering in England), he was surrounded by the entire battery asking for information about Frank.
It was on this day Dick learned how much the men loved Frank.
