Gibeltarik Posted 9 June , 2008 Posted 9 June , 2008 Hi there, Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of where I can find which RFA Tankers were placed under civil Shipping Company Management during WW1 please? Which Shipping Companies were involved and is there any way of finding out the names of the officers and crews please? Am I right I believing this placing the ships under civil management was to circumvent the Neutrality Acts of the USA please? Many thanks Yours aye Chris aka Gibeltarik

Many thanks Yours aye Chris aka Gibeltarik The RFA (Royal Fleet Auxiliary) was and still is, civilian manned, though the ships were Government/MOD owned. Thus all crew "sign on Articles" when joining a ship. A copy of this document (and the original when finished with) was sent off to Lloyds in London.
