stiletto_33853 Posted 5 June , 2008 Posted 5 June , 2008 Any ideas folks as to this helmet?? Not a brodie and does not look like french. Andy
scottmarchand Posted 6 June , 2008 Posted 6 June , 2008 Adrian helmet with a canvas cover, I think you are getting thrown off by the chimney on the building behind him seeming to look like a crest. Brit officers did occaisiosnally use them, Churchill prefered them. From your picture I can't tell if he is British or French...
Heid the Ba Posted 6 June , 2008 Posted 6 June , 2008 Looks too narrow and too high on the head for an Adrian, of course the bloke could have an oddly shaped head. The ridge is right for an Adrian, but there isn't the usual lip. An experimental model? *awaits correction*
stiletto_33853 Posted 6 June , 2008 Author Posted 6 June , 2008 Scott and Heid the Ba, Many thanks for the replies, another view without the building there. He is a British officer Scott. Andy
centurion Posted 6 June , 2008 Posted 6 June , 2008 There was a Belgian helmet produced in 1918 that was a simplified version of the Adrian type helmet - it didn't have the ridge for example. Might fit the bill.
stiletto_33853 Posted 6 June , 2008 Author Posted 6 June , 2008 Hi Centurion, Many thanks, and thanks to everyone that helped. The photographs all come from mid 1915 until September 1917 so I do not think the later Belgium helmet mentioned would fit. Andy
Peter Doyle Posted 6 June , 2008 Posted 6 June , 2008 For what its worth My view is that this is an Adrian-type with cover - the cover has the effect of muting the outline a bit, and there does seem to be a ridge, a la Adrian. Cheers Peter
Krithia Posted 6 June , 2008 Posted 6 June , 2008 Yep, definately an Adrian with cloth cover. Nice pic.
